Question by Ciara: Where can I find a great selection of double strollers for a 2 year old and a newborn?
I have a 2 year old and I’m due to have another baby in 2 weeks. I need some suggestions for a double stroller which will accommodate and a newborn infant car seat and a seat for a toddler. If anyone has made a similar purchase and has been happy with their selection, please let me know. Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by JennyH
I have a double stroller….I wanted one so bad. I had a 17 month old and a newborn. Well…the stroller is very hard to push, and is big. So when you go to a store, you are better off using the shopping cart. Don’t get me wrong it is nice to go for walks in, but I honestly don’t recommend it.

Question by bzone: Graco My Ride 65 Convertible car seat for newborn?
My car will be equipped with an infant seat that comes with the travel system stroller. My husband wanted a car seat for his car, not just a second base, so he went out and bought a convertible car seat. It’s the Graco My Ride 65 Convertible Car Seat. The weight is 5-40 lbs rear facing. He means to use this for our daughter when she is born in May. Is this seat safe for a newborn?
I’ve always thought you should start with an infant seat and then move to the convertible seat which is why I ask.

Best answer:

Answer by ♥Nikki♥
Absolutely! Most people use the infant seats first just because of how much easier they are to get in and out of the car.
On side note: We just moved my daughter from her infant seat to the MyRide (rear facing her until 40lbs) and we LOVE this seat.

Question by mama <3: Has anyone used a convertible car seat for newborn?
I just ordered my 20 month old a Safety First Complete Air 65 convertible car seat. It says it can be used from 5-65 pounds and 19″-54″ tall. So that would be the only car seat the child needs until a booster seat. We had the infant seat with my daughter and after 5 months old it was more of a hassle than a help and so we switched her to a convertible then.

My husband and I are trying for our second child and I am considering buying another one of the same convertible car seat from the start for our next child and skip the infant car seat, but many of the reviews said they aren’t sure how a newborn would fit (although I haven’t found any who used it/tried to use it for a newborn).
Has anyone used a convertible car seat from the beginning with a newborn? If so, did they fit well and seem safe? Was it a hassle for you and given the option would you do it again?

Best answer:

Answer by Laurie
One of my friends used a convertible for her newborn. The only problem she mentioned was if her baby fell asleep during the car trip, it was some times tricky to get her out of the car seat with out waking her.

You will probably need to buy a special headrest for the baby so the baby’s head doesn’t roll around too much when she is very young.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Mommy to N and A: Parents of two kids, how are the car seats set up?
My husband and I are trying to figure this out. Right now it’s no problem, Noah stays in the middle, but when we have our second what do we do? I know the middle is the safest spot but I don’t see how that’s possible with two children. So if you have a newborn and a toddler(or older infant) how do you have the car seats set up in your vehicle?
Sorry, I meant to add other than the middle is one side of the car safer than the other to have a seat located on?

Best answer:

Answer by Kimberly
It is safest to have a vehicle with a third row, if you do not have that your only option is to put one on either side.

Question by firsttimemomma: How soon is too soon to travel by car with a newborn from Beaumont, TX to El Paso, TX (12hrs)??
I am having a baby in about 2wks EDD April 12th 2008 and we are planning on going to El Paso in June sometime to see his family. I Personally think that it is going to be a long ride and dont want her in the car seat that long but from experience is it too young??

Best answer:

Answer by rjp
Its not too soon to travel for the baby but keep in mind it may make the trip three times longer. I drove from Louisiana to wyoming with my 3 month old daughter. It made the trip alot longer because we kept having to stop so she could eat every 2 to 3 hours! Other than that she was fine and didnt have any problems.
Good Luck.

Question by allie: My two year old picks on my newborn endlessly. What can I do?
Hey there, I’m really at a loss here. My 2 1/2 year old boy is (I think) very jealous of his new 3 week old sister. He ignores her, says “shutup baby” when she cries (breaks my heart that he even KNOWS the term “shutup”) and he has even thrown toys at her (he hasn’t hurt her YET thank God!). He was a great boy, well behaved and very polite, up until the baby showed up. Husband and I have sat him down and tried to talk to him about it, make it clear that it is NOT okay, but he ignores us and runs off. I don’t want to punish him for being jealous, but I don’t know what to do! I want him to love the baby, but right now the issue is her safety..he throws things at her! I don’t know how to stop it!

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Best answer:

Answer by harwarda
Yes, he’s upset at losing your attention, but it should be made very clear that this behavior is not acceptable. He should be taken to his room immediately- put in his crib if he still stays in it, and told that no one is going to play with him if he continues this. After a few minutes, when you get him out, one of you should play with him and give him attention AS LONG AS he behaves and doesn’t say or do anything mean to the baby. Kids quickly figure out that they don’t want the fun to stop. But if you fuss over him because you’re worried that he’s jealous, it’s only going to reinforce this behavior. DON’T try to reason with him- he’s too young to understand. Just remove him from the family circle. For a short time- don’t banish him or anything.

Question by ♥TreehuggerMama♥: Is there a difference bringing a newborn home to a puppy rather than a full grown dog?
We have a 10 week old rottie/cane corso. She is a great dog and has blended in well with our family, is doing great with training etc. We have arrangements with our neighbor (where we got her, the neighbor still has the mom and one sibling) when I go into labor.

My question is, I understand the introduction/safety issues of a baby and a full grown dog…do the SAME things apply to a puppy? Are there any special precautions or tactics of introduction?
Well this isn’t a pregnancy related question…its a dog question…lol
