Graco Snug-ride… we loved it and will use this model again with our next one! We had a small toyota… it fit perfectly and safely.
Congratulations!!

A lot would say Britax, but they are 250+ … are they worth that? I cant answer, because I didnt buy one.
I used the Graco snugride compatible one. I actually bought the Graco Mosaic System. I loved it, would recommend Graco.
Congrats on your new arrival!
The best and safest one is the one that fits securely in your car & doesn’t move more than 1/2 an inch in ANY direction. (NOTE: I’m not talking about rebound here, just L/R/F/B)
European seats are tested in side impact crashes, so if you have access to one OR have the money, I’d go with one of those. American seats are not side impact tested.
That said, a lot of people get the Graco seats, they are the easiest to use & the lightest of all the seats. The SafeSeat (the new model that supplements the Snugride) holds up to 30#, compared with 22 for the snugride, so if you have a history of big babies, this will help you use the infant seat a little longer.
And congrats!
There really is no safest seat. There are some things to look for. You want a 5pt harness with a front adjustor(this is one strap in front, instead of two in back) and something that fits your car. Some seats to consider are the Graco Snugride(most popular or any of the Combi’s(can be difficult to install).
I think you are in a different country, so the above may or may not be available. I think the Snugride is available and Britax makes some infant seats that are good. Mamas and Papas is the same as a Peg Perego here and they are ok seats. Very safe, but a little overpriced.
